Advisory board vacancies announced for Lake County Building Board of Appeals

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants to fill five general membership and two alternate vacancies on the Lake County Building Board of Appeals for a two-year term.

The purpose of this board is to act as a hearing board to appeal decisions of the building official and the building and safety director.

Interested parties must reside within the boundaries of Lake County, be qualified by experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to building construction and are not employees of the jurisdiction.

Applications are available at the Lake County Courthouse, Clerk of the Board Office, Room 109, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport, or online at www.lakecountyca.gov on the Board of Supervisors page. Please note that membership on the above referenced board is voluntary.

Interested applicants must reside within southern Lake County.

This appointment would be effective upon appointment by the Board of Supervisors at the Feb. 27 meeting.

Vision resource group meets Jan. 25

LAKEPORT, Calif. — The Lake County Library is fostering inclusivity by offering a myriad of free resources specially tailored to empower individuals with low vision.

Informational meetings about the library’s free low vision resources will now take place on the fourth Thursday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lakeport branch.

Library Technician Amy Patton will explain all the free resources available from the Lake County Library.

Resources covered will include large type books, mp3 players, eAudiobooks, books on CD and more.

Occupational therapist Chloe Karl will present vision support exercises based on Bates and Natural Health methods.

Free dump day for Clearlake residents planned for Jan. 27

CLEARLAKE, Calif. — Citizens Caring for Clearlake has announced a free dump day for Clearlake residents will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.

It will be held at the East Lake Landfill, 16015 Davis Ave. in Clearlake.

Please bring either your ID or a piece of mail on dump day to confirm your proof of residency in Clearlake.

Pleased separate recycling, e-waste (computers, TVs, electronics), oil and paint. These items can be taken to the Recycling Center at 16015 Davis St. in Clearlake. Recycling is free year-round.

Compost won't be accepted but can be taken to Quackenbush for a fee.
