State Controller Yee Updates state retiree health care liability

SACRAMENTO – Under new accounting standards created by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, or GASB, the state’s cost for retiree health and dental benefits has grown to $91.51 billion, according to a report published Wednesday by State Controller Betty T. Yee.

ARNOLD, Calif. – Marking one year since the famous Pioneer Cabin Tunnel Tree toppled, California State Parks, Save the Redwoods League and Humboldt State University on Wednesday announced plans to use the fallen sequoia to study the tree’s life history and gather historic climate-related information for the surrounding area.
