Potentate to visit local Shriners

NICE – The Lake County Shriner Club is holding a dinner benefit to raise money for children's transportation funds.


The dinner will be held on Thursday, July 16, at Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino, 1545 E. Highway 20.


Cocktails start at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.


The Shriners potentate will make a visit during the event.


There will be music, prizes and fellowship.


Tickets cost $35 per person.


Everyone is invited to attend and join the fun.

'Christmas in July' fundraiser planned for July 31

LAKEPORT – St. Mary Immaculate Church in Lakeport will host the “Christmas in July” fundraiser on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1.


The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parish hall, 801 N. Main St., Lakeport.


There will be bargains galore on books (from art to travel), collectibles, vacuums, tool box (complete with tools), printers and paper shredder, computer games, tape deck player, CDs (50s music to classical), faux flowers and trees, baskets, vases, oodles of Christmas tree ornaments, trees, wreaths, decorations, wrapping paper and ribbon, household items and furniture (chairs, ottoman, tables, stands, computer chair) and much more.

LOWER LAKE – “Revocable Trusts, Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney, Advance Health Care Directives: What you need to Know” will be the focus of a Saturday, July 18 seminar.


The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. at Deeper Life Christian Fellowship, 9980 Mill St., at the corner of Main Street and Morgan Valley Road across from the Lower Lake Schoolhouse Museum in Lower Lake.


In a PowerPoint presentation, attorney Dennis A. Fordham will explain the benefits of a trust versus a simple will. A 20-minute discussion will follow. Refreshments will be provided.
