Oct. 11 pancake breakfast benefits softball team

KELSEYVILLE – Come out and support the Kelseyville High School Girls Softball Team by having pancakes this Sunday, Oct. 11.


The Kelseyville Lions Club have a pancake breakfast to benefit the team from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., or until the event is sold out.


The cost is $6 for pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee.


The Kelseyville Lions Club is located at 4335 Sylar Lane.

Annual Democratic Legislators Barbecue to take place Oct. 17

CLEARLAKE – Democratic candidate for California Attorney General, Assembly Majority Leader Alberto Torrico, will deliver the keynote at this year's annual Democratic Legislators Barbecue in Clearlake.


The 16th annual event, honoring elected Democratic legislators who represent Lake County at all levels of government, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17.


The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Highlands Senior Center in Clearlake, 3245 Bowers Ave., Clearlake.


Lakeport City Councilwoman,Suzanne Lyons is the mistress of ceremonies.


State Sen. Pat Wiggins and Assemblyman Wes Chesbro have confirmed their attendance. California Democratic Party Chair Sen. John Burton will make a special appearance.


Music for the day will be provided by the SulferTones.


The meal will feature barbecued tri-tips and side dish trimmings.


Lake County wines from Shannon Ridge Winery, Shedhorn Vineyards, Steele Winery and Tulip Hill as well as beer and other beverages will be served.


Live and silent auctions, as well as a raffle for a presentation flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol building and was donated by Congressman Mike Thompson, are on the program.


Early organizational sponsors include Operating Engineers Local 3, Sonoma Lake and Mendocino County Building & Trades Association, the North Bay Labor Council and the California Teachers Association.


Individual sponsors to date are Congressman Mike Thompson; Betty Yee, chair of the State Board of Equalization; Sen. Wiggins; and Assemblyman Chesbro.


The cost is $35 per person, $25 for seniors over 55 and children under 12 attend free.

KELSEYVILLE – The farmers markets in Kelseyville are continuing through the end of this month.


Through Halloween, the Saturday morning market at Steele Wines, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and the Tuesday market from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be open.


Get your supply of fresh fruits and vegetables, local goat cheese, olive oil and honey, in addition to jams, soaps, bread, handmade crafts and yummy snacks while enjoying music performed by local musicians.
