Lou Hill

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Louis Harry Hill, age 55, of Kelseyville passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 26, 2021.

Lou was born in the original hospital in Lakeport on Oct. 1, 1965, and adopted by Ike and Lucille Hill, who preceded him in death along with his older sister Millie.

He spent his entire childhood growing up in the same country home. He rode the bus to school each day with Mr. Colton and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1983.

Lou only left Lake County for a short time to attend trade school in the Central Valley and drive commercial truck.

He returned to Lake County and married his high school sweetheart, Cyndi, in 1987. Together they reared a wonderful daughter, Kylie, who is now starting a new family of her own.

Lou spent his years working hard as a farmer, mechanic, equipment operator and commercial driver.

Lou is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cyndi; his daughter, Kylie Whited; son-in-law, Chad; and new baby grandson, Cooper.

Lou also leaves behind many cousins, in-laws, wonderful neighbors and dear friends.

Due to COVID-19, no services will be held. Donations in his name may go to the Lake County Junior Livestock Association.

Jan. 26, 2021 – May 6, 1932

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – T.J. Haynes, 88, passed away at home with his companion of nine years, Joann Gettman.

T.J. is predeceased by his wife, Audrey, parents and siblings.

He is survived by his children, Tamara and Kevin; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and friends.

His wish was to have cremation and be interred with his wife at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.

Virginia Sneed

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Virginia Louise Sneed, age 81, of Lakeport died peacefully in her home on Jan. 16, 2021.

Virginia was born on July 20, 1939, in Delano, California, to David and Ellen Kuns.

She married Ron Sneed on May 3, 1959, and they raised two daughters.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and loving husband.

She is survived by her two sisters, Dorothy Keene and Judy Wood; her two daughters, Carin Hawks (Jeff) and Wendy Brossard (John); five grandchildren, Danielle McCauley (Shane), Janelle Porsov (Dennis), Sierra Houghton (Jared), Austin Brossard and Samuel Brossard; and four great-grandchildren, Anson McCauley, Claire Porsov, Kelton McCauley and Marcus Porsov.

Virginia’s life reflected her love of Christ, her love and care for family and friends, her limitless curiosity, patience, giving nature and many talents.

Virginia moved to Lakeport her senior year of high school. With her upbeat personality, she quickly made friends, joined the cheerleading squad, was voted “Most Fun All Around” and even became Basketball Queen.

She and Ron kept a beautiful garden and would delight family and friends with fresh produce, dill pickles and blackberry ice cream. Every year they would go elk hunting and Virginia would make elk jerky so delicious that all family members vied for their share.

She was a talented seamstress, sewing clothes and Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. She even sewed a wedding gown for her daughter!

Virginia was gifted in performing arts; in church she played the piano, organ and guitar, narrated plays, and recited long Bible passages from memory to the amazement of others.

She was a devoted member to the Lakeport Christian Center, an Assemblies of God church for over 50 years.

Her enthusiasm for life was infectious and her selflessness and generosity of spirit touched so many lives. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Due to the COVID pandemic, services will not be held for Virginia.

Sandra Adams Wolfe

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Sandra Adams Wolfe passed away shortly before her 81st birthday on Jan. 26, 2021.

On the final night of her life, a rare, heavy blanket of snow fell on Lakeport and enveloped the town in a peaceful quiet. We felt as though the world paused to acknowledge the end of the earthly time of a lively spirit.

Many of us will recall gathering in her home for holidays or football Sundays. If it was Christmas or Thanksgiving, folks would be drawn to her kitchen for a warm chocolate chip cookie or a taste of oyster stuffing. She’d happily provide a sample and then chase you out of the kitchen with a smile and a few stern (possibly choice) words.

If the Patriots were playing, folks likely heard halftime stories of her days of making venison steaks and beer-infused pancakes for family hunting trips up at “the cabin.” She didn’t mention that she was wearing go-go boots while at the cabin stove, but pictures show she would hunt and fish with well-coiffed hair and the latest attire. All who knew Sandy can conjure a memory of her fierce devotion to family and lasting beauty.

Some of us will continue to wonder at the magic of her green thumb that coaxed dazzling blooms from azaleas and hydrangeas. She spent countless hours tending her yard, including a lovely hill of mostly purple irises that she planted to memorialize her husband of nearly twenty-five years. Her indoor ferns and lilies flourished for decades despite the average short lifespans of most house plants in the hands of more novice gardeners. Her steady faithfulness was made evident in those thriving plants.

Still others may recollect the gorgeous and cheeky radiologist whose warmth solicited laughter and trust from patients even during times of distress. Sandy was proud of her profession in nuclear medicine that closely paralleled her father's career as a doctor and mother's career as a nurse. Her final moments were spent in the care of the hospital where she spent 20 years serving others.

Jeannine Marie Chana
1938-2021

Jeannine Chana went to be with the Lord peacefully on Jan. 6, 2021, at the age of 82 at CPMC Mission Bernal in San Francisco of natural causes.

We are eternally grateful that her older brother Ron, her only sibling, was with her, by her side, as her soul slipped out of her tired body.

Jeannine was born June 7, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, to Aurelia and George Salisbury.

As a child, Jeannine spent her days helping out in her family’s restaurant, in her own way, and had many loving memories at that restaurant.

She attended Los Angeles High School and grew up visiting her aunt and uncle’s ranch in Bachelor Valley, California, for vacation.

She quickly fell in love with Lake County and decided to call it home at the young age of 19.

Jeannine met her first husband, Charles Leroy Drinnon, and had two sons, Charles and Clay. At that time, they lived in the Philo/Boonville, California area. Jeannine had many fond memories of living at a saw mill there, until they moved back to Lake County.

She later met her second husband, Eugenio Chana, in Lake County and had two more children, Eugenio and Angelica.

Jeannine was predeceased by her son, Charles George Drinnon.

Jeannine is survived by her husband, Eugenio (Camilo) Chana; sons, Clay Drinnon and Eugenio Chana; daughter, Angelica (Brian) Davis; grandsons, Jordan, Hugo, Dante, Caiden, Lincoln, Roman and Chase; granddaughters, Destiny, Briana and Audrina; brother, Ron (Darlene) Salisbury; nieces, Allison and Eryn; and nephews, Rand, Creed, Blair, Kevin and Brendon.

Jeannine never met a stranger and when she saw someone, anyone, she truly saw them through the eyes of God. She never saw white, brown, black, yellow, straight or gay, she never saw someone God did not love. She was one of the best prayer warriors we’ve known, if you were lucky enough to have known Jeannine, I guarantee you she has prayed for you.

One of her greatest desires was to share the love of Jesus and to bring people to Him. She attended many churches in Lake County throughout her life, but Big Valley Community Church was her home church for a long time.

Her greatest accomplishments were achieving the status of a loving grandmother, she adored her grandchildren but, unfortunately, her health problems intervened and she wasn’t able to spend as much time with them.

She was a wonderful wife, the best mother we could have ever asked for, and a loving sister and aunt. All of her family will mourn her passing but are thankful she is no longer in pain and look forward to seeing her again “one sweet day” in heaven.

In lieu of flowers Jeannine’s wishes were to have donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
