Mary L. “Kim” Bandy
Feb. 21, 1929 – Oct. 2, 2013

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Mary L. “Kim” Bandy passed away peacefully Oct. 2, 2013, surrounded by her children Debra Ponts, Mark Bandy, Boyd Bandy, Tina Kelly, Bryce Bandy and granddaughter, Kelly Bandy.

Kim was a former resident of Santa Rosa, where she worked as a printer at Sonoma State University.

She then moved to Lake County with her children after the passing of her husband, Herman Bandy.

Kim was a member of several organizations including the Lakeport Elks Lodge No. 2704, Northshore Moose Lodge No. 2307, Sons of Italy, Red Hat Society and TOPS.

She enjoyed attending dances with her friends, the Wayne Miller Band was one of her favorites.

Kim is also survived by her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her longtime partner, Richard Hauch.

Kim will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Lakeport Elks Lodge, 3775 Lakeshore Blvd., Lakeport, Calif.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Gene P. Sanchez, a 17-year Lake County resident, passed away peacefully Oct. 9, 2013, at the age of 73.

Gene was born Feb. 14, 1940 in Pueblo, Colo., and moved to South San Francisco at the age of 5.

He was a professional singer with "Gene and the Ethics," a pressman for the Enterprise Journal in South San Francisco and later in life owned and operated an upholstery shop in Belmont.

Gene and his wife were members of the Lakeport Elks R.V. Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia; daughter, Sherry Ferguson of Lucerne and son, Joseph Sanchez of Kelseyville; also six grandchildren; sisters, Esther Barrett of Velarde, New Mexico, and Margie Gentry of San Bruno; brother, Ernest Sanchez of Salem, Ore.; several nieces and nephews.

To honor his wishes, no services will be held.

Visitation for Garcia set for Oct. 11

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Visitation for Gabriela Rivas Garcia, who passed away Oct. 3, 2013, in Lower Lake, will be held on Friday, Oct. 11.

It will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport.

Funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. following the visitation.
