Jimmy Juan ‘JJ’ Jackson

Jimmy Juan “JJ” Jackson passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022, in Kingsland, Texas, surrounded by family.

JJ was born on July 7, 1945, to Doris and Alfred Jackson in Lamesa, Texas.

JJ is predeceased by his father, Alfred Jackson; mother, Doris Biggerstaff; half-brother, Joe Biggerstaff; and life partner, Jack de Vine.

JJ is survived by step-brother, Don Jackson of Dimmitt, Texas; sister-in-law, Nancy Biggerstaff of Marble Falls, Texas; niece, Jeanette (Garry) Soefje of Leesville, Texas; nephew, Joel Biggerstaff of Marble Falls, Texas; and three great-nephews: James, Joey and Johnny Biggerstaff.

After graduating from Odessa High School in 1963, JJ joined the Navy. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, JJ stayed in California where he later met his life partner of 47 years, Jack de Vine.

JJ worked for Nash Enterprises for 18 years, including Seven Seas Supper Club and managed Starwood.

While part of deVine Feathers, JJ made the feather boas worn by celebrities such as Cher, Lucille Ball and Ann Margaret, to name a few.

JJ loved travel, which included a trip to England and traveling across the US.

In 1982, JJ and Jack opened The Bungalow in Clearlake Oaks and later settled in Nice. While in Nice, JJ was involved with several organizations, including the Senior Center, Robinson Rancheria and was a member of Hartley Masonic Lodge.

Following Jack’s passing, JJ returned to Texas in 2014 to care for his mother.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Upper Lake Cemetery, Upper Lake, California.
