Johnny Ray Owens

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Born March 25, 1967, in Vallejo, Calif., Johnny Ray Owens completed his life’s journey on Aug. 13, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his adopted father, General Owens of San Jose, Calif., and his stepdaughter, Jacqulyn Marie Bond.

Johnny Ray is survived by his adopted mother, Bessie M. Bell; stepfather, Rick Mayo; sister, Marla Shaffer; niece, Meka Y. Collins and nephew, Edward C. Collins; wife of 20 years, Jenise Faye Owens; his son, Malcolm Marques Owens; and stepdaughters, Crystal Lynn Bond and his baby girl Samantha Faye Bond.

He was grandpa to seven beautiful grandchildren, Christopher James Ray Bond and is his first grandson who was named after him. Although, he didn’t get to meet his six grandchildren – Serenity, William, Brenda, Nariah, Dejinya and Logic – he kept a special place for them in his heart.

Johnny graduated from Lower Lake High School where is loved by many classmates. He was very involved with local NAACP activities over the years and had a real passion for creative dancing where he taught break dance courses at a local Dance Studio in Clearlake Highlands for several years.

Johnny loved to help people and had a heart of gold, he was loved by so many in the Clearlake community, he had a passion for fishing with his step father and working in the family’s auto detailing business.

A celebration of life Johnny Ray Owens being planned for a later date.
