LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Alma Lampson, a longtime resident of Lakeport, joined her beloved husband, Wes Lampson, on Sept. 17, 2018.
Born in Oakland, Calif., on Nov. 17, 1918, the only daughter of Ernest and Dora Edna Jameson, moving to Lakeport in 1920. Alma attended local schools and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1936.
In 1937 she was chosen to represent Lake County in the Miss America pageant, coming in fourth place for California.
She married Wes in 1938 and settled in to a wonderful marriage of 72 years.
Alma was a homemaker all of her life. She loved the outdoors, especially her garden and flowers. Along with her family, she spent many happy times hunting, hiking and backpacking. They also traveled extensively throughout the western United States.
She was an exceptionally talented artist and many of the businesses and homes around Lake County proudly displayed her oil paintings.
Alma will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was preceded by her husband, mother, father and brothers, Robert Jameson and Jack Jameson. She is survived by her son, Gary (Michael) Lampson of Kelseyville and daughter, Kathy (Dick) Howard of Lakeport; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; plus many nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions be made in her name to United Christian Church of Lakeport, or the charity of your choice.
