LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Charles Daniel Curry was known by most as “Dan” and as “Danny” to those who were closest to him.

Dan was hardworking, determined and independent with a witty sense of humor and a kind heart. He was a roofer by trade, but a wanderer at heart.

On March 11, 2018, after an 18-month battle with cancer, Dan passed away surrounded by loved ones at the age of 60. Forever going wherever the wind takes him.

He was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on April 23, 1957, to Mrs. Elizabeth “Beth” Curry and Mr. Charles “Chuck” Daniel Boone Curry.

Dan was well liked as a little boy, but a little shy; he loved to read; and he asked a lot of questions and listened carefully.

He had two dogs he rescued and loved in life – Joshua and Gabby. Dan was a loyal friend and made strong connections wherever he went. With family, friends and even his chosen pets, Dan always seemed to be “there” at the perfect moments, often times when he was least expected and needed most.

Dan had this compulsion to make the best of any given situation and to stay strong for those around him. He lived by the “golden rules” of respect, integrity and working hard to get where you are; he was adamant about important life lessons like “Don’t be a litterbug” and “Look both ways before crossing the street.”

He enjoyed being in the sunshine and he never was too far from a lake or ocean. He enjoyed gathering his children and grandchildren and taking them on walks to the beach or hikes into the mountains, sharing in the peace, beauty and serenity of nature.

Dan is survived by his children, Jeramie, Danielle, Aaron, Jamie, Jessica and Justin, and his children’s mother, Denise; bonus children, Nick, Dave, Roger and Jeannine; siblings, Nancy, Steve, Keith, David and brother from another mother, Norm; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Ryan, Ashley, Zander, Jazmin, Axel, Cylus, Royce, Jaidence and Bentley; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and his best paw friend, Gabby. He is preceded in death by his mother Beth, his father Chuck, his brother Eric, and his great-niece Bella.

A gathering to celebrate Dan will be held at the Aurora Park and Marina, 2985 Lakeshore Blvd., Nice, Calif., at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 14.

“God bless him and God help us bear the loss of a kind, good-hearted man.”
