Tommie Laree Overton

LUCERNE, Calif. – On Feb. 15, 2018, Tommie Laree Overton passed away unexpectedly at her home in Lucerne.

She was such a big part of the activities around Lake County and devoted her time to making it a better place to live.

She was the activity director for Northlake Adult Day Center since 2001, and she was only three weeks away from being an active member of Eastern Star for 57 years.

Tommie volunteered at the Ely Stage Stop and Country Museum. Even with all that, she still found time to help serve breakfast on weekends in Lower Lake and was always baking for fundraising events.

Tommie was born in Texas, raised in Hollywood and graduated from Hollywood Professional High School when a car accident cut short a promising future in dance.

She married her husband, Downey Overton, on March 2, 1957, and they moved to Lake County in 1998. Downey passed in August 2016.

Tommie is survived by daughters, Alicia Franks and Leslie Overton. She is predeceased by her daughter, Micheline Overton. Tommie also has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Hartley Lodge in Lakeport on Saturday, March 17, at 11 a.m. with a potluck to follow.
