LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Pauline Ruth Hanson, retired pear grower, passed away from heart failure on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, in Cookeville, Tenn., where she had moved in 2007 to be closer to her son, Norm.

Pauline had just celebrated her 100th birthday and Christmas with her entire family who had come from all across America to attend the glorious celebration.

Pauline was born Dec. 21, 1917, in her grandparents’ farmhouse in Scotts Valley near Lakeport, Calif.

In 1941 she married Charles Black and they lived at Sulphur Bank Mine near Clearlake Oaks, Calif., and later at Amber Knolls Orchard.

Charles passed away in 1968. In 1970 Pauline married Wendell Hanson and returned to her family home in Scotts Valley.

Pauline is survived by her son, Norman (Judy) Black of Monterey, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shannon Hepner of Ramsey, Minn., Jayson Black of Zimmerman, Minn., and Charles Black of Hansville, Wash.; and six great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husbands and her son, Kenneth Black.

Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary in Lakeport on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon with the funeral service at noon. Interment will follow at Hartley Cemetery.
