Joyce Diemert was born July 20, 1937, and died peacefully in her home in Mt. Angel, Oregon, on Jan. 8, 2018, at 1:11 a.m., with her husband, Paul Diemert, and daughters by her side. She will be missed by large, loving family.

Joyce and Paul were married for 61 years. They have five children: Kathleen Diemert Bowers (born 1957), Mark Diemert (born 1958, married to Toni Costello), Mary Diemert Tarpley (born 1962, married to Jeff Tarpley), Barbara Diemert Mendoza (born 1964) and Angela Diemert Lehto (born 1968).

Joyce was a loving stay-at-home mother to her large family for most of her adult life. She lived with her husband and children in many different places, following her husband's career: Buffalo, North Dakota; Downieville, Calif.; Chico, Calif.; Glendora, Calif.; Upland, Calif.; Allentown, Penn.;  San Antonio, Texas; and Santa Rosa, Calif.

After the children were grown, Paul and Joyce lived in Clearlake Oaks, Calif.; Keizer, Ore.; and Mt. Angel, Ore.

Joyce and Paul have 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Brian Bowers, Michele Joyce, Lisa Bowers, Anne Bowers, Robert Morrell, Tony Morrell, Jeffrey Tarpley, Marissa Mendoza, Josselyn Mendoza, Tiffany Tgrudzjinski, Travis Tgrudzjinski, David Lehto and Dean Lehto.

Joyce was a Realtor. She also worked for many years for the county social services department in Lake County, Calif., and retired from there. Her caring spirit for people in need in Lake County was well known. When she was unable to help people with pressing, immediate needs through her capacity with the county, she would often send them to see her husband Paul in his volunteer role with the local St. Vincent De Paul charity.

Joyce was born in Valley City, North Dakota, grew up on her parent's farm, and moved in with her sister Gloria as a teenager to help care for her sister's young children. She graduated from Valley City High School.

Joyce is survived by her sisters, Delores Krapu and Gloria Becker. She is predeceased by her parents, Albin and Della Rosland Aune, and her sisters, Marilyn Aune and Arlyle Danielson.
