NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – Born in Waterloo, Iowa, on Nov. 13, 1938, Jolene passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her spouse, John Gugel; parents, Robert and Velma Zeien; sister, Cheryl Zeien; and brother-in-law, Donnie Nehasil.
Jolene is survived by her sons, Robert (Christine), James (Michele) and Richard; and their father, Jerry Routh. She will be missed by her sisters, Deanna Locati (Rich), Beverly Watkins (Art), Nancy Nystrom (Alan) and Linda Nehasil; as well as her grandchildren, Jennifer Routh (Katie), Cory Routh, Aaron Routh, Joshua Copus-Routh, Kelly Routh, Bradley Routh and Candice Routh; and three great-grandchildren.
Jolene lived her life as a caring mother, grandmother and friend to many. For the past 25 years she resided in Lakeport, Calif., where she enjoyed the surroundings of Clear Lake and other local attractions. A favorite of hers was visiting Northern California’s beautiful rugged coast. She was a big dog lover and the stories of her spoiling her “babies” were epic.
She was a sweet soul. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
At her request, there will be a private family service only. Donations in her honor can be made to a Hospice of Sonoma County.
