Dorothy (Warnock) Saccullo

June 19, 1922 – Dec. 11, 2017

Dorothy was born in Benicia, Calif., to Rose and Howard Arneson, she was the second of three children.

She started elementary school a year early to keep her brother Howard from running home at recess every day to see her. Howard and Dorothy remained close throughout their lives, speaking on the phone daily.

She drove a forklift at the Benicia Arsenal during World War II. She rode the ferry across the Carquinez Straights and bussed to Oakland everyday to attend and graduate from Mills College in Oakland.

Dorothy retired after 35 years as a bookkeeper for the Vallejo Times Herald.

Dorothy was very blessed with love in her life. She married Serafino Saccullo in 1980 and they have spent 37 wonderful years together.

Dorothy and Fino moved from Vallejo to Middletown, Calif., in 2006 and enjoyed peaceful country living, gardening, raising chickens, goats, cherishing newly made friendships and activities at Twin Pine Casino, and watching grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Dorothy was preceded in death by husbands, Buddy Borges and Byron Warnock; brother, Bobby Arneson; daughters, Charlene O’Rourke and Ramona (Holbrook) Walls; grandson, Matthew Amarant; great-granddaughter, Stephanie Niccum; and sister-in-law, Eva Arneson.

Family members remaining to cherish her memory include husband, Serafino Saccullo; brother, Howard Arneson; daughters, Susan (Greg) Conley and Bonnie (John) Souza; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; eight and 8/9ths great-great grandchildren; niece; nephews; cousins; and all her friends whom she dearly loved and considered family.

Dorothy never met a stranger and blessed the lives of all who knew her. What a legacy she leaves behind!

A Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Jones and Lewis Memorial Chapel in Lower Lake.

A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middletown. Burial will take place at the Middletown Cemetery with a reception to follow at Twin Pine Casino Event Center.

Arrangements entrusted Jones and Lewis Clear Lake Memorial Chapel FD800. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.jonesandlewis.com for the Saccullo family.
