Bill was born on August 29, 1924 in Elyria, Ohio and passed away Dec. 5, 2017, in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Bill was very devoted to his wife, Alice, of 12 years, traveling and enjoying life.

He leaves behind two sons, William Whipple and Case (Lena) Whipple; sister, Beverly O'Dell; stepdaughter, Linda (Jorge) Mendoza and their son, Denis Lukyanenko.

Bill was a grandfather to Melody (Justin) Cecil, Robert (Amy) Whipple, Taylor Tate and Holly Bobadilla, and great-grandfather to Jenna and Josh Cecil, Ashley and Ryan Whipple and Isadora Bobadilla.

Bill was a graduate of Ohio University where he played football and excelled in bicycle racing.

Shortly after, he served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge as a Gunner's Mate Second Class, U.S. Navy and a Victory Medal in World War II.

Bill was a member of the Lakeport Elks Lodge #2704, charter member of the Early Lake Lions and a lifetime member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Always ready for a competitive event Bill played drums in the Pasadena Parade of Roses, as well as training Navy personnel in the sport of swimming in preparation for the Summer Olympics. In addition, he became a water ski speed racer – always competing at any age.

Later in life, he founded his own business, Clearlake Amusement. He also was a deputy for the Lake County Sheriff's Department, and subsequently, years later, retired.

Bill "Whip" certainly lived life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed. Private services will be held.
