LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Harry Pat Rivera Jr., better known as “H.P.,” passed at 96 years young, on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1921, in San Francisco to Harry and Doris Rivera.

H.P. was a professional upholsterer for the better part of 80+ years. He began his lifelong career in the family business in Santa Clara, Calif.

On June 6, 1943, he was inducted into the United States Navy and trained in metallic arc welding at the Naval Shipyard in Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii (T.H.).

He served his country proudly on active duty up to Dec. 8, 1945, and continued to serve in the U.S.N.R. in San Francisco at the Naval Shipyard.

H.P. was honorably discharged on June 21, 1952, as a Metalsmith Second Class V6. For his efforts, during and after WWII, he received the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Victory Medal.

H.P. and his beautiful wife, Joni, and their children, Ronald and Doug, moved to Clearlake in 1996 where he set up his own upholstery business, Rivera’s Auto Marine Custom Upholstery, in Clearlake Oaks.

He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion for many years.

He is now able to be once again with the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Joni.

H.P. is survived by his two sons, Ronald J. and Doug Sr.; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

HP may be gone, but his spirit lives on in his family and friends.
