LAKEPORT, Calif. – Clinton George Heuring, born July 13, 1929, in Colorado Springs, Colo., died on March 11, 2016, in Lakeport.

He was a hardworking, honest man. He served his country with the US Army, in El Paso, Texas, during the Korean Conflict.

Throughout his life, he raised bees, rode motorcycles, raced cars, refurbished antique vehicles, went to the theater and enjoyed classical music. He was interested in German history and liked reading.

He collected fine wine, and for years visited many wineries, especially in California – but he also enjoyed a cold beer after a hard day at work.

He picked up antiques, loved his pets and had a free roaming pigeon in the house for years.

In 1966, he met and married the love of his life – Jean, with her two daughters, Kathy and Maureen.

He was a fine carpenter; as well as a home builder. He did it all – framing, electric, plumbing, dry wall and paint.

He always took care of his own cars and trucks. He loved to travel, driving his Jaguar XKE all over the back roads of America. He loved people, had lots of friends, he loved to laugh.

Twenty some years ago, he found true joy and happiness in a walnut orchard here in Lakeport. He quickly developed a circle of friends with neighbors nearby. At the end, it was those friendships, and his kids, that he was most proud of.

He was always there to help. He was a loyal friend, a good provider and he cherished his family, in his own way.

He is survived by his younger brother, John Clark Heuring; his children, Karen (Olszewski), Kathleen (Freepartner), Kenny Heuring and Dawn (Wendland), along with his step-daughters, Kathleen Gauss and Maureen Linden; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He will rest next to his wife, Jean, who precede him in death.

Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Hartley Cemetery. Friends and family will hold a gathering at noon at the Scotts Valley Women’s Clubhouse.
