LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – On Oct. 8, 2015, Marsha Leah Mills-McQueen passed away in Sacramento, Calif., just shy of her 60th birthday, surrounded by family, friends and angels who sang her into eternity at her hospital bedside.

She was a fiery, giving, creative and unparalleled wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend and believer in Jesus Christ.

Though the luster of life has dimmed for those who knew her, she is bathed in a splendor unimaginable and rejoicing with the family members who have gone before her.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, George McQueen Jr.; her children, Sarah (daughter), Nathan (son), Cory (son-in-law) and Christina (daughter-in-law); her grandchildren, Hailey, Celia, Cailyn, Evelyn and the forthcoming Tanner (who she spoiled because “that’s what grandmas are for); her mother and father, Alberta and David Mills; and her siblings, Mark (brother) and Debbie Mills, David and Tamah (sister) McQueen, and Ken and Rena (sister) Rousch.

If you knew Marsha, there was a good chance you have something she knit or sewed. There is also a good chance you were invited for dinner or Easter or Christmas or Thanksgiving or Memorial Day or Fourth of July or to a family birthday because all her love could not be contained in her 5’2” frame. She showed her love in many ways, through cooking, presents, a phone call or in a hug.

As a mother, she sacrificed and poured her soul into raising children who had respect for others, made their bed and, above all, loved God.

As a wife, she was known as “General Mills” or “The Sha of Itan” and poured as much dedication into dressing, feeding, and loving her husband. As a sister, she cared for her siblings and loved to be with them in any capacity, even if they annoyed one another at times.

As a daughter, she cared for her parents just as they cared for her and never hesitated to take the long drive over to spend a day chatting with them. She loved her nieces and nephews and treated them just as she treated her own children, harboring a special place for each one, sparing no expense to brighten their day with a gift.

The service will be on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Lakeport Community Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1111 Park Way, Lakeport, with food served directly afterward.
