Robert Leslie Buege

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Robert (Bob) Leslie Buege, age 75, went home to be with his Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, May 16th, 2015.

Bob was born March 9, 1940, to Lyle and Alice Buege in Racine, Wisc. The family moved to Laytonville, Ca. In 1956.

Bob lived in Laytonville, Hopland and Napa before settling in Lake County in 1964.

Bob married Kathy LaFollette Peters, the love of his life, in 1978 and they resided in Lakeport together for the next 36 years.

Bob was a fire captain with the California Department of Forestry, retiring in 1990 after 32 yrs of service.

Upon retirement from CDF, he became an electrical contractor and after another 20 years he retired again. Then, to keep busy, he worked part-time for Mendo Mill in Lakeport.

Though officially retired Bob was always available to family, friends and acquaintances whenever there was a need.

Bob’s most cherished occupation was serving his Lord in church and everyday life. He was a member of Big Valley Community Church for more than 32 years, where he was a board member serving as elder and deacon, teacher, song leader, all around fix-it person and people person.

In 2002 he became a member of Lakeport Christian Center, where he again served the Lord wherever needed until his time on earth was done.

Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. Always patient and kind. We were truly blessed to have known him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hazel Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Robert Jeffrey Buege of Finley and Jonathan Buege of Kelseyville; his stepsons, Kevin (Laticia) Peters of Lakeport and Kendall Peters of Lakeport; granddaughter, Jordan Peters of Lakeport; brother, Richard Buege of Burlington, Wisc.; sister, Mary Pederson of Racine, Wisc.; brother-in-law, Alan Johnson of Racine, Wisc.; nephews and nieces in Wisconsin; and many friends.
