Douglas Quiett

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Douglas Quiett, age 57, became an angel forever on May 9, 2015.

An unfortunate accident caused the passing of Doug or better known as “Dad,” “Brother” or “Papa” at a very young age.

Though his life on this earth was short, it was very meaningful; he touched, helped, supported and loved every person he came across and will continue to do so for eternity.

Doug was born in San Pablo, Calif. At the age of 10 he and his family moved to the lake (Nice, Calif.) in 1968 after spending their summers here for numerous years.

Doug went to Upper Lake High School, graduating with the class of 1976 and shortly thereafter started his own family.

Following the footsteps of his father, who was a union pipefitter for Standard Oil, Doug worked at The Geysers for Unocal Geothermal starting in the early 1980s and still worked up there for Petrochem as a mechanical insulation foreman upon his passing.

Like most of those who work, or have worked, at The Geysers, Doug very much loved his job and was very proud of his career. The only things that meant more to him than work was his family and his Harley, he loved his family more than words could ever explain.

He is survived by his brother, Robert; son, Travis; daughter, Rickki; daughter-in-law, Andrea; two beautiful granddaughters, Marina and Sandra; nephew, Bobby; niece, Desiree; cousin, Bill; and countless friends who were always considered family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Quiett; stepfather, Nuel Emmons; and mother, Bette Emmons.

Doug will be forever remembered as a loving, caring, understanding, and compassionate friend, father, Papa, and brother and will be deeply missed forever.

My relationship with my father, Doug, like a lot of father and son relationships, had its ups and downs, but he could not have made me a prouder son throughout the last five years. My family and I are truly blessed to have had a father and Papa like Doug in our lives. Words can never explain how much he means to us. We love you Papa, we miss you. – Travis and Rickki.

Graveside services will be held at Upper Lake Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, with a reception to follow.

Arrangements entrusted to Jones Mortuary, www.jonesmortuary.com FD311, Lakeport, Ca.
