Kishineff: More jobs, environmental clean up needed

Details

I want to know why there has been no big jobs package or big infrastructure bill out of our Congress in as long as I can remember.

This isn't just on Congressman Thompson, but he certainly has had the ability and the platform to write these bills and to try to get them passed.

We need to be pushing more jobs in housing and environmental clean up, instead of more refinery and cement factory jobs.

With the automation of more and more jobs, and more and more jobs being combined so companies can "downsize" and save a buck, we're going to need a federal jobs guarantee or else a guaranteed universal income. That is the future anyway.

One hundred percent automation means 100-percent unemployment.

McSorley: Loustalot best choice for supervisor

After listening to and observing both candidates for District 3 supervisor, I am supporting East Region Town Hall Chairman Denise Loustalot for county supervisor.

Denise Loustalot has proven effective leadership skills during her past service as a mayor and councilwoman in Clearklake. She has also been a strong advocate for the residents of Spring Valley and Clearlake Oaks on the ERTH Board. She is a very successful small business owner in Lake County, and a fine person.

North Lake County has many unmet needs that require action. Based on her past experience, I believe that Denise will deliver decisive results for our local communities. That’s why I am encouraging all District 3 residents to join with me in voting for Denise Loustalot for supervisor on June 5.

Krentz: Supporting Denise Loustalot for supervisor

Public safety is a serious concern for me and many other District 3 residents.

As a retired law enforcement dispatcher, I support Denise Loustalot for county supervisor.

Having known Denise and worked with her during the past 16 years I can assure you she is the one needed for District 3 supervisor.

The people of the Northshore can count on Denise to support more sheriff patrols in our communities. And she will fight to keep commercial marijuana grows away from residential neighborhoods and public lands.

We deserve a county supervisor who will work effectively to bring more county resources and services to protect our Northshore families. Denise Loustalot has the experience and the dedication to get it done.

On June 5, I encourage all District 3 voters to elect Denise Loustalot as our new Lake County supervisor.

Harris: Beware of deceptive mailers

Democratic voters in Lake County have received a mailer from a group calling itself "Cops Voter Guide" which features images and branding designed to make readers believe it represents law enforcement. One needs a magnifying glass to read the small print which admits there is no association with law enforcement or public safety personnel.

In truth, this mailer is simply a paid political ad, designed for the sole purpose of deceiving Democratic voters into believing that Steve Brown and Don Anderson share endorsements with key Democratic candidates like Dianne Feinstein, John Chang, Dave Jones, etc. This is not true.

The Democratic Party of Lake County has endorsed Susan Krones for district attorney, Shanda Harry for Superior Court judge, Brock Falkenberg for county superintendent of schools and Bruno Sabatier for District 2 supervisor.

The Democratic Party conducted extensive interviews to determine which candidates will best serve Lake County.

This type of mailer convinces me that we certainly made the right decision. Our district attorney and Superior Court judges should uphold the highest ethical standards and not participate in voter deception!
