Ridgel: Obama slick in gaining control of our lives

After I wrote that our constitution promoted a meritocracy, Dennis Rollins wrote to say he couldn’t find that in the U.S. Constitution. It isn’t written there; the Constitution restricts government, not people.

Under our Constitution we can fly as high as our wings will take us. That has produced a meritocracy, the greatest country in the history of the world.

Nevertheless, Obama is slick in gaining control of our lives. For example, this week he practically outfoxed the Catholic Church, an organization devoted to goodness, mercy and kindness began by Peter for Jesus 2,000 years ago.

Catholic hospitals refused to perform abortions – murder, to them – even abortions with a pill. Obama’s regime announced that they would, too, give abortion pills, by God. (Uh, not by God but by Obama)

He then outsmarted the Catholics by “accommodating” them: Those abortions and birth control will be diverted to insurance companies. That means Catholics will still help perform abortions since they pay insurance, too.

Obama’s Jack Lew, who sounded like a Capone consigliore on Sunday television, slickly glided “abortion” to “women’s health” and “contraception.” He argued that these procedures won’t cost insurance companies more money but doggedly avoided answering why: Dead babies require no insurance expenses; live ones do. Obamacare is the gift that keeps on giving.

This is just part of the total power grab by Obama, this “prince of fools” about whom we really know little. If we let him get away with it, we deserve this comment by a Pole:

“The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

“The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”
