Bach: Festival helps effort to control water locally

The inaugural Lucerne Friends of Locally Owned Water (FLOW) October Harvest Festival was successfully held Oct. 9 at Lucerne Harbor Park.

Beneath perfect skies, David and Sarah Ryan of “Blue Moon” warmly performed for the fundraiser for Lucerne FLOW. The eventual goal is for Lucerne to be in control of its water system.

The food was great, the clown was smile-inducing. The horseshoe tournament promises to be a big attraction next year, with all participants vowing to return and bring their friends.

There were events for children, a scavenger hunt, children's parade and a piñata.

Vendors provided festival goers an opportunity to see and purchase local crafts, and there was even a raffle where the grand prize, donated by Robinson Rancheria, was a two-night stay.

There were other donated items too numerous to mention, and to those donors, we give warm-hearted thank yous.

A special thank you to the band Flow, who out of the goodness of their hearts, came up to Lucerne for the occasion and played a set of original material including “Let It Flow.”

We hope to see you all back next year with your friends to continue helping us gain local control of our water.

Craig Bach is a board member with Lucerne FLOW. He lives in Lucerne, Calif.
