Home winemakers and beer makers sought for annual festival

LAKE COUNTY – The wine committee of Clear Lake Performing Arts – sponsors of the annual Lake County Home Wine Makers Festival – is seeking amateur winemakers to participate in their event, taking place this year on June 27 in the village of Kelseyvillle.

For the first time home brewers are also encouraged to provide samples of their best efforts which will be judged not only by the attendees but also by a panel of qualified judges.

Home winemakers may compete in as many as five different wine categories representing some 15 varieties. They will also provide tastings for attendees and compete for the coveted "Peoples Choice" awards.

All proceeds go to support the many music programs of Clear Lake Performing Arts, including both the Lake County Symphony and the CLPA Youth Orchestra.

Many of Lake County's premier commercial wineries will also be on hand to offer tastings.

Arts and crafts groups will also participate. Music will be provided by the popular David Neft Duo.

The Kelseyville Business Association, which co-sponsors the annual event, will rope off Main Street from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The cost to attend is $15 per person for advance ticket purchase which includes a commemorative wine glass, or $20 at the gate
