Lake County Horse Council meets Jan. 18

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Horse Council will be meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m.


The meeting will take place at the Junior Livestock Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport, 401 Martin St.


All are welcome. There will be a raffle, door prizes and speakers.


Bring a coat, get a door prize ticket. Donated coats will be given to Lake County Office of Education, Healthy Start Program.


The group has several guest speakers lined up for the meeting.


John Gay will talk about future plans for disaster preparedness and working cooperatively with the various county entities to safely evacuate livestock in the event of a major disaster occurrence.


Marty Brookman has information about towing insurance available to Horse Council Members through USRider. For every new application USRider gets from the Horse Council, the council gets $10 back for the purpose of education.


Dr. Jerri Waddington has generously donated a ranch call for dentistry on your horses, cats or dogs up to $300 value. The raffle tickets will be limited to 50 and be available for sale, $10 each or three for $20. Contact Maureen Brasier, 707-263-1904, or another board member for your tickets.

The council is planning a Valentine's Day Poker Run on Feb. 13. There will be chocolate, prizes, food and fun. Details will be announced at the January meeting, or call Maureen Brasier, 707-263-1904.
