LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Lakeport Senior Center, Flotilla Commander Dane Hayward of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary presented a framed certificate of appreciation and a $50 donation to Pam Plank, board chair of the senior center.
The gesture was in thanks for the center allowing Flotilla 88 to use the facility for the USCG Auxiliary Radio Day held on Oct. 23.
The Radio Day, which was in celebration of the auxiliary's 71st anniversary, was a success with 39 contacts in 17 states including Palmer Alaska, Canada and a ship, the Santiago, off of the coast of South America. A special contact was the Point Wilson Lighthouse in the State of Washington.
The Flotilla offered a special thank you to all who participated.
