LAKEPORT – Lakeport Safeway recently gave away half-day fishing trips to some lucky customers.

Winners of the trips for two included Buckingham resident Joel Witherell and outdoor writer Terry Knight.

The trips were donated by local fishing guide Richard Pounds of “Bass Fishing with Richard.”

The raffle took place as a result of donations to Easter Seals at the checkout stands during the month of April. April was Easter Seals month at all Safeways.

By coincidence, Witherell is the Easter Seals Northern California administrative assistant in Lakeport..

Witherell said he plans to take his son-in-law, Charlie Steele, with him on his trip.
