LAKEPORT, Calif. – There is a new retail space coming soon in Lakeport and they want to feature your locally made products.
LakeWorks is the creation of Cheri Holden, owner of Watershed Books, with consultation from Thrive Lake County.
LakeWorks is soon to be located at 307 N. Main St. in Lakeport, adjacent to Watershed Books, and plans to feature Lake County made art, crafts, and home products.
They plan to be open by Nov. 1. With that in mind we are currently looking for quality products that are beautiful, functional and affordable. Makers will be paid a 60-percent commission on sales. This commission goes up to 80 percent by committing to staff the store one 3.5-hour shift per week.
Consignment length is 90 days, renewable at discretion of LakeWorks. The one-time nonrefundable set-up fee will be waived for those makers who enter their work by Dec. 1.
They are looking for all types of unique, handmade products: jewelry, hats, scarves, bags, soap, beauty products, candles, aprons, wallets, clothing, greeting cards, toys, and kitchen and garden supplies.
Art such as framed photography, small paintings, books, CDs and DVDs by local writers, musicians, and filmmakers would be great.
They also are looking to include local honey, olive oil, jams, pickles, veggie starts and other food items.
LakeWorks is modeled after the Share Exchange's Made Local Marketplace in Santa Rosa ( http://www.madelocalmarketplace.com/ ). In the future, they plan to partner with North Bay Made ( http://www.northbaymade.org/ ) to carry products from other North Bay counties and to allow them to carry products from our Lake County makers. That means expanded retail opportunities outside the county.
Makers interested in having their products evaluated can email their contact information, a picture of their wares and a product description to the Maker Managers at This email address is being protected from spambots.
