LAKE COUNTY – The Health Leadership Network (HLN) is requesting proposals from qualified individuals and organizations for development of an online ordering system for the primary purpose of facilitating institutional ordering of fresh local produce from Lake County farmers.
It is expected that the system may, for sustainability reasons, be expanded at some point to include other regional farmers and other types of buyers.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 8 p.m. on Monday, May 3.
Electronic submission of proposals is required.
Funds for the online ordering project are provided by a grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) with a primary purpose of expanding specialty crop production by expanding local markets.
Specialty crops include fruits, vegetables and tree nuts. Other agricultural and miscellaneous products incorporated into the system would need to be financed by funds other than the CDFA specialty crop grant.
CDFA grant funds may be used 1) to address electronic design/software for product inventory, invoicing, and documentation with privacy assurances; 2) contractor expense to implement the system, engage and train users, and achieve sustainability by the end of the 2-year grant period.
Proposals will include a scope of work, implementation plan, and budget that details activities, timeline and expenses.
