LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Spotlight On Productions has planned two more concerts at the Soper Reese Theatre to raise funds for Lake County fire rebuilding.
Proceeds will be used by Hope City to purchase building supplies to rebuild homes lost in Lake County fires that had insufficient insurance.
This all-volunteer agency is the local project of Hope Crisis Response Network, a disaster relief agency from Elkhart, Indiana. More information can be found at: www.hcrn.info.
The next benefit for Hope City will cap off Lakeport's Independence week events on Sunday, July 8.
From 4 to 7 p.m., you'll be able to groove to the smooth soul blues sound of Johnny Rawls, an award-winning singer and guitarist from Mississippi. From Northern California, the backup musicians include T. Moran, Donny Mederos, Matt Silva and Bruce Gordon.
For the July 8 concert, some free tickets will be available to Spring Valley evacuees and families that lost homes in the Sulphur Fire.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., the 10-piece band "The Funky Godfather" will reprise the music of James Brown for a supreme dancing experience on the Soper Reese dance floor. Soul singer Cubby Ingram will be The Funky Godfather, along with Terrie Odabi as The Funky Diva.
Backing them will be some familiar faces, and some new to the Soper Reese: Anthony Paule, Tony "Macaroni" Lufrano, D'Mar, Jon Otis, Endre Tarczy and a 3 pc brass section with Armen Boyd, John Gove and Steve Stanley.
There will be snacks, wine, beer, soda, water, raffle and silent auction at both concerts. Dancing will be highly appreciated.
