LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Spring Sulphur Fire Benefit is set to take place on Friday, April 27, featuring the Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra.

The benefit will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Soper Reese Theater, located at 275 S. Main St. in Lakeport.

This is the 10th benefit concert for Lake County fire survivors produced by Spotlight On Productions in partnership with The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County and other community volunteers.

The Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra will be traveling from the Bay Area and North Bay for this dance party. They have been selling out in Northern California and at soul and blues festivals in Italy, Germany and the Canary Islands. This year they were nominated for five Blues Music Awards and will play the awards ceremony in Memphis in May.

Band leader Anthony Paule is a longtime blues guitarist who has toured and recorded with Charlie Musselwhite, Boz Scaggs, Maria Muldaur, Norton Buffalo, John Nemeth, Roy Rogers and Lake County favorite Nancy Wright.

Paule played the first benefit concert by Lake County Fire Recovery Benefits at the Twin Pine Casino in November 2015.

His nine-piece soul revue includes a three-piece brass section with Charles McNeal on sax, Derek James on trombone, and newest member Bill Ortiz on trumpet. Ortiz is recently off a 17-year stint with Carlos Santana, and played with Toni, Tone, Tony for 10 years.

You won't want to miss drummer D'Mar, who is legendary for his expressive style and athletic leaps. Funk masters bassist Paul Olguin and keyboardist Tony "Macaroni" Lufrano will be working in tandem to liven up the dance floor.

Terrie Odabi and Loralee Christensen should knock your socks off with their powerful, impassioned voices. Odabi's vocals have been compared to another Bay Area native, Etta James. The relatable lyrics of her original songs earned her two Blues Music Awards nominations in 2017.

Lake County fans should be excited to see Christensen on the Soper Reese stage, after her performance at the Big Valley Hall last year had to be cancelled due to the fires. Christensen’s three-octave range has kept her in demand performing and in recording studios with many bands over the past 25 years.

Wine, beer, soda and water will be sold for Hope City to purchase supplies to rebuild homes lost in the 2015 to 2017 fires.

Sales of homemade desserts will help Big Valley Hall renovate the hall to improve future benefit events. Please bring cash for gift certificates, wine, jewelry, lotion, a Star Wars collectible gift basket and a solar camping lantern at the raffle and silent auction.

All seats will be reserved and the dance floor will be open. Tickets can be purchased online at www.soperreesetheatre.com, in person at the Soper Reese Theatre box office before events or Monday through Friday at The Travel Center, 1265 S. Main St., Lakeport, or by phone at 707-263-3095. Event updates are on Facebook at Lake County Fire Recovery Benefits.
