UKIAH, Calif. – The Mendocino College Art Department cordially invites the community to its largest and most popular exhibition of the year.
Throughout the semester, students work hard in and outside of class to produce a wide range of artwork including ceramics, sculpture, photography, textiles, paintings, drawings and mixed media works.
Students from all of the college campuses are invited to enter up to three pieces of their artwork for a chance to be accepted into the juried event.
This process is educational for students and is particularly useful for those who hope to exhibit their work in commercial or co-op galleries.
The exhibit will run from April 19 through May 20, and the gallery will host an opening reception on Thursday, April 19, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Students from the Mendocino College Culinary Program will cater the event, so come early to sample their creations.
The opening will also feature a special collaboration with the Mendocino College Dance Department, with student dancers posing for artists to sketch outside the gallery.
This will be the third year for this incredibly popular activity. Everyone attending the event is encouraged to join in and draw, regardless of their age or experience.
Come enjoy the festivities and support your local artists. Most of the artwork in the exhibit will be for sale.
Regular gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and by special appointment.
The gallery will also be open for most of the Spring Dance Festival performances (May 4 to 6) and the Ukiah Symphony Orchestra performance on May 19 and 20.
