UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Lake County Wine Studio is hosting a book signing with author Denise Orpustan-Love on Saturday, April 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. to celebrate the release of her book, “The Mill House Speaks.”
“The Mill House Speaks” takes the reader on a very personal and loving exploration of the Basque Country and its spiritual traditions.
It explores Basque life and mysticism – “the honoring of the mystery of life, land, place, home, family, ancestors” – through the author’s experiences, sensations, emotions and perceptions on a journey to Basque Country with her two children, a trip made to restore the mill house originally owned by the author’s father.
On this trip she explores seven pathways into the ancestral Basque homeland that, in the words of Angeles Arrien, “are both rooted and grounded in the simple, yet time-honored perennial wisdoms of ancient Basque people.”
Orpustan-Love, Ph.D., is a first generation Basque-American and college educator who lives with her husband and two children in Lake County, and spends summers in the Basque Country in southwestern France.
She will be at the studio from 2 to 5 p.m. to greet visitors and sign sold copies of her book.
Refreshments will be served and wine will be available for sale by the taste or by the glass.
Artwork on display for the month of April is by Sunny Franson.
