MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – The public is invited to a free guided field trip to Trailside Park with ecologist Cathy Koehler on Sunday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Participants will meet at Middletown Art Center at 10:45 a.m. or at the park at 11 a.m. Join the walk, find out more about how the park is recovering, which flora and fauna are present post fire and clean up, and what we might expect to happen in the coming months and years.
Koehler is resident director of the McLaughlin Reserve, a University of California research station in eastern Lake County.
“I have enjoyed spending the last 15 years working in the ecologically complex landscapes of Lake County and interacting with people who love to learn more about the ‘hotspot’ of biodiversity in which we live,” said Koehler.
The field trip is free to the public thanks to the Lake County Land Trust, Koehler and the MAC’s Resilience Project.
Bring a hat, water bottle, and camera if you wish, and wear good walking shoes. All ages welcome.
The Resilience Project is supported in part by the California Arts Council and inspired by nature’s resilience as a mirror for our own recovery post fire.
The Resilience Project is now in its tenth month – providing low cost, high quality art classes in photography, creative writing, painting and printmaking. Classes cycle every first through fourth week of the month until May 20.
The project culminates with multiple exhibitions of work created during the project, and a chapbook of writings and images.
This Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. join Clive Matson for Writers Workshop using his “Crazy Child” format. Visit www.matsonpoet,com to learn more about Matson, or learn more about the Resilience Project at http://www.middletownartcenter.org/resilience.html.
