Soper Reese screens ‘An American in Paris’ April 24

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The 1951 musical extravaganza, “An American in Paris” starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron, screens at the Soper Reese Theatre on Tuesday, April 24, at 1 and 6 p.m.
Entry to the film is by donation.
This gorgeous Technicolor MGM film captures the color, atmosphere and spirit of the city on the Seine, embracing all of the romantic elements of Paris.
Considered to be one of the finest musicals Hollywood has ever produced, “An American in Paris” is remarkable for its George Gershwin musical suite, including “I Got Rhythm,” S’Wonderful,” and “Our Love Is Here To Stay.”
It’s also remarkable for Kelly’s athletic yet lyrical choreography, and particularly for the imaginative and dramatic 17-minute ballet sequence at the film’s end.
