LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Committee to Elect Shanda Harry Judge – 2018 reminds all local music lovers to purchase their tickets for the upcoming “Me and My Cello” concert by Clovice A. Lewis, Jr. at the Soper-Reese Theater on Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m.

Lewis is an acclaimed composer/cellist whose music has been performed and downloaded worldwide.

Shanda Harry is running for election as Lake County Superior Court Judge for Dept. 4. Election day is June 5.

“I am so grateful to Clovice for setting up this magical event to support my campaign,” said Harry. “Clovice and his wife Carol Cole-Lewis and I have been friends for many years. At one point, I even took cello lessons from Clovice, but my schedule didn’t allow me to devote sufficient time to practice. But, as chance would have it, several years later, my then three-year old daughter, Ophelia, really took an interest in music. She wanted to learn the guitar like Elena of Avalor. I explained to her that the cello was also a string instrument and that Clovice could be her teacher. A teacher friend of Clovice’s found a 1/10 size cello and Ophelia has been learning ever since. She really loves it. She says she wants to be the best cello player in Lakeport and the universe!”

The benefit concert will take the audience on a journey through the mind of composers. In this lecture-concert, Lewis will demonstrate the rich beauty of the cello and how J.S. Bach wrote the “Unaccompanied Suites for Violoncello” to create some of the most beautiful music ever composed.

Lewis will also perform his own original musical compositions and discuss how modern composers create their art. The concert will feature overhead projections and videos of the internal structure of the music to be performed. Local artists, to be announced, will accompany Lewis in performances of his original compositions.

“I am sure that Ophelia will be front and center watching Clovice and leading calls for several encores,” said Harry.
