GenX Cinema features ‘Ghost,’ ‘Dirty Dancing’ Feb. 24

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The GenX Cinema series presents a double feature, with the romance-comedy-murder mystery “Ghost,” and the romance-musical “Dirty Dancing,” on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport.
Entry is by donation.
“Ghost” attempts to be hilarious, heartbreaking, mysterious, even frightening, and it succeeds admirably on all counts.
The movie stars Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. It won two Academy Awards including Best Supporting Actress for Whoopi Goldberg, who steals every scene she’s in.
“Dirty Dancing,” a coming-of-age classic set at a Catskills resort in the summer of 1963 that launched the on-screen career of Jennifer Grey, was a surprise box office hit, and spawned several hit singles including “I’ve Had the Time of My Life.”
The film, which also stars Patrick Swayze, won the Oscar for Best Music.
“Ghost” was made in 1990, is rated PG-13, with run time of two hours and seven minutes.
“Dirty Dancing” was made in 1987, is rated PG-13, with run time of one hour and 40 minutes.
The films are jointly presented by the Lake County Theatre Co. and the Soper Reese Theatre.
