NORTH COAST, Calif. – The San Francisco-Munich Trio Concert will perform on Sunday, Jan. 28.
The concert will take place at 3 p.m. in Preston Hall, Mendocino.
There are many performing trios with different combination of instruments, but seldom one with bassoon, cello and piano.
The rich sounds of these two instruments played by the San Francisco-Munich Trio is an experience not to be missed.
The cellist, Rebecca Rust, studied with Berkeley’s famous Margaret Rowell and continued with Bernard Greenhouse (Casals’ pupil) and Mstislav Rostropovich. Rust is known for her musicality and her beautiful, warm sound.
Bassoonist Friedrich Edelmann grew up in Kaiserslautern, Germany and became the principal bassoonist of the famed Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. After the trio’s recent performance in Gualala, the Classical Sonoma Review enthused, “Rich Bassoon Sounds Charm at Gualala.
The performance will include trios by Mozart and de Fesch; cello-piano works by Schumann, Robert Kahn and Bloch; and one of the three best-loved late 19th century sonatas, Grieg’s magnificent “Cello-Piano Sonata in A Minor.”
Because of a cancellation, the pianist will be announced later.
Advance tickets are $22 and are available at Harvest Market in Fort Bragg and Out of this World in Mendocino. Tickets at the door are $25.
