MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – This Saturday, Nov. 25, the Middletown Art Center is offering a full day of art and culture to the community.

The day begins with “Printmaking Resilience – Vagabond Etching” from noon to 5 p.m., followed by “Give Thanks ~ There Will Be Bass,” an electro-acoustic dance with live and DJ’ed music from 7 to 10 p.m.

Inspired from a road trip, a backpack of art supplies and a pasta press, artist Sage Abella shares a portable drypoint etching technique in the printmaking class.

“Join us for Vagabond Etching, the first Printmaking Resilience session where we get to print editions of our work. An edition is more than one of the same print,” explained Abella. “We’ll play with dry point etching - an age-old process that produces beautiful, hand-drawn artwork in an evocative antique style. You can reprint and change your etching a little each time you run it through the press!”

Adults and teens 12 and up, whether new to art making or professional, are invited to attend Resilience classes every first through fourth weekend of the month, usually on Saturday. Classes are just $5 and continue through May 2018.

Visit www.middletownartcenter.org/resilience to learn more about the Resilience Project and schedule or to preregister for classes.

“Classes cycle through photography, creative writing, painting and printmaking each weekend,” said Abella, one of several instructors of both Resilience painting and printmaking, as well as a participant in Resilience classes when not teaching. “I am so grateful for this opportunity, not only to teach, but to learn from other accomplished local artists.”

“Give Thanks ~ There Will Be Bass” is a collaborative effort between DJ Nick Hay and The Echo Conspiracy: local musicians Brian Ward, Shane Powers, Frank Frazza of the Higher Logic Project, and Heather Kipnis poet/musician.

Be sure to catch the Give Thanks celebration of gratitude and dance at MAC this Saturday starting at 7 p.m.

Cover is $5. Proceeds go to support MAC, your local arts nonprofit dedicated to providing a vibrant cultural hub in South Lake County. There is much to be thankful for!

Join the folks at MAC for events this weekend and throughout the year. Visit www.MiddletownArtCenter.org to learn more about exhibitions, events and classes or to become a MAC member and be a part of sustaining and growing the arts and culture in Lake County.

MAC is located at 21456 State Highway 175 at the junction of Highway 29.
