‘WATER!’ exhibit opens with reception Oct. 28 at Middletown Art Center

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – The public is invited to Middletown Art Center for the opening reception of WATER! this Saturday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The show features works by local artists pertaining to the element water, source of creation, sustainer of life, natural resource, emotional body and political pawn.

This carefully curated display will be on view through Dec. 3.

It includes stunning landscapes, abstractions, marine and mythological creatures, statement art, and other timely and refreshing works.

Feel free to come in costume if you plan to go to a Halloween party afterwards.

Contemporary art exhibits are presented at the MAC every six or seven weeks. The next show will be the MAC Professional Members’ Holiday Show, which opens on Dec. 9 as part of Christmas in Middletown.

In addition to the member’s exhibit, MAC’s classroom studio will be transformed into an art market for the evening. Artists are welcome to apply for a table at http://www.middletownartcenter.org/artists.html. Space is limited.

Artists and the general public are encouraged to make themselves aware of upcoming programming at MAC including exhibits, child and adult art classes, concerts, films and community events.

current offerings include the resilience project, low-cost classes in photography, creative writing, painting and printmaking which cycle every first through fourth weekend of the month until May 2018.

The project is part of MAC’s continuing fire recovery efforts and provides equitable access to the arts, thanks to a grant from the California Arts Council, with support from Adventist Health.

This week MAC is offering printmaking with focus on subtractive monotypes. Adults of all ages and teens 12 and up of all levels and experience, from novice to professional, are welcome to attend.

After the opening reception, the MAC gallery will be open Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; or by appointment.

The art center is located at the junction of Highways 175 and 29 in the heart of Middletown. MAC a.k.a. EcoArts of Lake County, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization operated by a volunteer team.

The organization is dedicated to providing artistic and cultural opportunities to the residents and visitors of Lake County, as well as to contributing to the community’s well-being and economic vitality.
