Napa Valley College hosts Dec. 2 film premiere

NAPA VALLEY, Calif. – The Napa Valley College Criminal Justice Training Center will host a premiere showing of “The Anatomy of Hate: A Dialogue To Hope” and a community discussion with the film’s director and producer, Mike Ramsdell.

The film will be shown Thursday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The premiere is free and open to the public but tickets are required as seating is limited. For more information and tickets, go to www.nvccjtc.org.

“The Anatomy of Hate: A Dialogue to Hope” reveals the shared narratives found in individual and collective ideologies of hate, and how we as a species can overcome them.

For six years the filmmaker worked with unprecedented access to some of the most controversial ideologies and violent conflicts of our time including the White Supremacist movement, Christian Fundamentalism as an anti-gay platform, Muslim extremism, the Palestinian Intifada, Israeli settlers and soldiers and US forces in Iraq.

The film juxtaposes this footage with interviews from leading sociological, psychological and neurological experts, as well as stories of redemption told by former “combatants.”

Greg Miraglia, dean, Career Technical Education, said, “Many colleges and universities around the country started this school year with incidents of hate violence occurring in and around their campuses. Napa Valley College is committed to promoting a learning environment that appreciates diversity and inclusivity. We hope this documentary will promote discussion about how to end hate violence.”
