How you can help the Lake County Land Trust's project

Executive Director Susanne Scholz said that although work is beginning, only about half of the needed funding has been raised.

The trust has identified various levels of sponsorship for the Rodman Slough Preserve project. They include: Bald Eagle, $3,000; Osprey, $2,000; Blue Heron, $1,000; White Pelican, $500; White Egret, $250; Bluebird, other.

An important campaign element is a sponsorship recognition program that will include plaques placed on benches or gates, permanent recognition on a donor board and acknowledgment on promotional materials and the website, depending upon what level of sponsorship is given.

In addition, tile artist Barbara LeVasseur will create tiles for dedications in the Rodman Nature Center. Those who donate $500 may choose from five designs featuring local wildflowers -- bird's foot violet, cinquefoil, innocence, lupine or shooting stars – that include dedications up to 40 characters in length.

The tiles will be placed in the fireplace surround, on kitchen and sink backsplashes, counters, risers and walkways.

All donations are tax-deductible.
