KPFZ turns corner with grant, events

LAKE COUNTY — There has been some good news for community radio recently. As most of you have probably heard, KPFZ was recently awarded a federal matching grant of over $94,000. This eases the financial situation dramatically and brightens the future considerably. KPFZ is now 75 percent of the way home in the money department — with only $45,000 to go before the radio station gets the green light.

Child's death remains under investigation

CLEARLAKE — Local authorities are waiting on autopsy reports before deciding whether any criminal charges are warranted in the case of a 4-year-old child who died earlier this month.

LAKEPORT – A newly released report from the District Attorney's Office concludes the California Highway Patrol officers involved in shooting a reckless driver in October were justified in their actions.

Heavy rains over - for now

LAKE COUNTY - The heavy rains that fell over Lake and Mendocino counties on Thursday tapered off in the late afternoon, ushering in a forecast for more cool weather and intermittent showers through this Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento.

LUCERNE – District Attorney Gary Luck said because of the suspect's age he can't discuss the case, the charges or possible sentencing of a teenager arrested last month for a rash of graffiti in the Northshore town of Lucerne.
