LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The National Weather Service on Friday issued a winter storm watch for parts of Lake County for early in the new week.

The storm watch will be in effect from Monday evening through Wednesday morning for elevations above 2,500 feet.

In those areas, heavy snow with accumulations of 5 inches and above will be possible, as well as winds with gusts up to 35 miles per hour, the National Weather Service reported.

Forecasters said the heaviest snowfall rates are expected early Tuesday morning.

There also is the potential for snow as low as 2,000 feet, the National Weather Service reported.

Impacts on travel are expected on Highway 175 in Cobb, forecasters said.

Along with snow, wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour over the ridges are possible, according to the forecast.

The updated forecast shows daytime temperatures for the coming week in the high 40s and the 30s at night.

The coldest conditions are expected on Tuesday, when temperatures are forecast to be in the low 40s during the day, dropping into the high 20s at night.
