CLEARLAKE, Calif. – A fire east of Clearlake Oaks that was reported to have begun as the result of a vehicle fire was almost fully contained on Wednesday night.
The Mule fire is located off of Highway 20 and Mule Skinner Road near the Double Eagle Ranch, 13 miles east of Clearlake Oaks.
The fire began Tuesday at around 2:45 p.m. after a motorhome caught fire, setting ablaze a nearby hillside, according to reports from the scene.
On Wednesday Cal Fire said the incident had been held to 21 acres, with containment late Wednesday night reported to be at 90 percent.
Radio reports indicated just before 9:30 p.m. that Cal Fire was terminating incident command at the site.
